The Bare Necessities

Whether you're jetting off for a weekend getaway or an extended vacation, make sure to bring the bare necessities so your adventure never takes a wrong turn. These three items are essential no matter where in the world you go - and they'll keep you out of sticky situations! In other words: don't forget them!

Passport with stamps

1 - Passport

The most obvious one of all, this is your ticket in & out of whichever country you are heading to. Without it you are in trouble, consider keeping it safe inside & inside a passport holder such as these ones

travel insurance

2 - Travel Insurance

This one can literally be a live saver, wherever you are heading you should always be insured. You can browse various types of Travel Insurance on Compare The Market

Make sure you read the small print on your policy before buying it to be sure that it provides you with an adequete level of cover.

Revolut Card & Passport

3 - Wallet (Cash & Cards)

The last of the obvious ones (I promise)

A good card holder or wallet is essential when travelling to ensure that your all important cards are protected - that's why we prefer the slimer option of a card holder such as these ones.

We tend to not carry much cash when travelling, our free Revolut card enables us to spend abroad in 150 countries with £0 fees & is incredibly easy to use!

  • chills water bottle

    Water Bottle

Being out in the sun can be so much fun, but it's important not to forget about taking care of yourself. That means staying hydrated! The key is always having plenty of water with you - make sure your bottle has a loop and clip which will ensure it stays close by whenver you're exploring outdoors.

Our favourite is the chillys bottle.

  • coral friendly sunscreen

    Sunscreen

Please make sure that you pack at least one bottle of coral friendly sunscreen, it also helps with jellyfish stings! The locals in most places do now insist you use it & rightly so.

11-13 Footwear

When heading to warmer climates, we tend to travel with 3 pairs of shoes.

1 Pair of comfortable & stylish running shoes

1 Pair of Birkenstocks, this tends to be what we wear 90% of the time

1 Pair of water / rock shoes for water activites

Scroll through the slides below to see which pairs we suggest

  • 14 - Gore-Tex Waterpoof Jacket

Most people in the UK will already have one but the weather elsewhere can also be unpredictable & wet.

I'd recommended gore-tex jackets over the other options due to its ability to keep you cool in warmer climates

  • 15 - Micro Fibre Towel

An absolute must for travel, they always amaze me how fast they will dry you without every seeming to absorb water! They are very light, dry a lot fast than usual towels & roll up to around a third the size!

Dock & Bay Towels are the best ones we have had

  • 16 - Neck Pillow

Travelling with a neck travel pillow is a must, i'm unable to sleep without having somewhere/ something to lay my head on - we opted for the ones that you can roll up & clip to your bag - See them here

  • 17 - Small Toiletries

It's well worth having some extra small toiletires to put in your day bag or hand luggage to carry through airports as well as your usual toiletries.

You can also buy bundles here

  • 18 - First Aid Kit

Hopefully it will never be needed but having a small pouch just incase is well worth the space - don't go mad you just need the essentials.

Thankfully we've never used it but we take this one with us everywhere

19 - Osprey 65L Backpack

One of the most important things you need to do before going backpacking for a long period is getting a good backpack.

Which backpack is best? We belive that it is Osprey, having tried a number of cheaper alternatives over the years it is pretty clear that you get what you pay for.

We love Osprey's AG (Anti Gravity) technology which allows air to flow up your back & therefore keeping you cool.

20 - Osprey Global Carry On Bag

The perfect weekend trip bag, I'm yet to have any airline question me as hand luggae even though ive sometimes got enough clothes for 2 weeks in it!

Aside from it's tardis like abilities the best thing about it is the way it opens like a suitcase - i'm able to split my packing in half & no longer have to dig my hand down a bag trying to find something from the bottom. I travel with this & my bigger atmos AG.

It has been my favourite purchase of 2022.
